(AP) ? Staff Sgt. Robert Bales was largely calm and compliant when he turned himself in following a predawn massacre at two Afghan villages in March, witnesses testified Tuesday. He followed orders, sometimes sat with his head in his hands, and at one point cracked a joke in a failed effort to ease tension.

But he also deliberately mangled his laptop, said two soldiers assigned to accompany him while he gathered his things.

One of them, Sgt. Ross O'Rourke, testified that he removed the laptop from Bales' rucksack after the defendant told him he didn't want to take it with him. O'Rourke said Bales then grabbed the computer and folded the screen back, breaking it.

That didn't prevent investigators from retrieving information from the computer, O'Rourke said. He didn't say, however, what information was collected.

O'Rourke's testimony came on the second day of a preliminary hearing for Bales, 39, a veteran of four combat tours who faces 16 counts of premeditated murder and six counts of attempted murder. The hearing will help determine whether the case goes to a court martial.

On Monday, Cpl. David Godwin testified that Bales asked him to bleach his blood-soaked clothes.

The March 11 attack on the villages of Balandi and Alkozai prompted the U.S. to halt combat operations for days in the face of protests. It was a month before military investigators could reach the crime scenes.

A prosecutor's opening statement and other witness testimony Monday suggested Bales spent the evening before the massacre at his remote outpost of Camp Belambay with fellow soldiers, watching a movie about revenge killings, sharing contraband whiskey from a plastic bottle and discussing an attack that cost one of their friends his leg.

Within hours, a cape-wearing Bales embarked on a killing spree of his own, slaughtering 16 Afghan civilians before returning to the base in predawn darkness, bloody and incredulous that his comrades ordered him to surrender his weapons, said prosecutor Lt. Col. Jay Morse.

"I thought I was doing the right thing," a fellow soldier recalled him saying.

Morse said that after Bales attacked one village he returned to his post, woke a colleague to report what he had done, and said that he was headed out to attack another village. The colleague took it as a bad joke.

"I never got out of bed, sir," the colleague, Sgt. Jason McLaughlin, testified. "I thought it was ridiculously out of the realm of normal possibility, sir."

Bales has not entered a plea. His attorneys have not discussed the evidence, but say Bales has post-traumatic stress disorder and suffered a concussive head injury during a prior deployment to Iraq.

The defense did not give an opening statement. Bales was not expected to testify.

A surveillance blimp captured video of a caped man ? identified as Bales ? returning to the base. He was greeted by McLaughlin and other soldiers with "weapons at the ready," said Morse.

McLaughlin said Bales' first words were: "Are you (expletive) kidding me?"

McLaughlin testified that he then turned to McLaughlin and asked: "Mac, did you rat me out?" McLaughlin replied, "No."

The night before the raids, Bales and two other soldiers watched "Man On Fire," a fictional 2004 Denzel Washington movie about a former CIA operative on a revenge spree, the prosecutor said.

Godwin testified that Bales seemed normal as they shared whiskey, discussed Bales' anxiety over whether he'd get a promotion and talked about another soldier who lost his leg a week in an attack a week earlier.

Shortly before leaving the base, Bales told a Special Forces soldier, Sgt. 1st Class Clayton Blackshear, that he was unhappy with his family life and that the troops should have been quicker to retaliate for the March 5 bomb attack, Morse said.

"At all times, he had a clear understanding of what he was doing and what he had done," said Morse, who described Bales as lucid and responsive.

San Jose's in control (kinda)

The LA Galaxy were left stunned Sunday night after a 94th minute free kick from Victor Bernardez gave San Jose a 1-0 victory, leaving the defending Major League Soccer champions on the edge of elimination ahead of the second leg of their Western Conference semifinal.

An often cagey match in front of 27,000 at Home Depot Center was brought to life late when Robbie Keane nearly put the home team in front, his the 86th minute shot from 22 yards nailing Jon Busch?s crossbar.

Eight minutes later, when Marcelo Sarvas fouled Simon Dawkins 30 yards from LA?s goal, Bernardez put San Jose in front, his free kick skidding beneath a jumping Omar Gonzalez and under a diving Josh Saunders to give the Supporters? Shield winners their 10th extra time goal of the season.

Man of the Match: Before his goal, Victor Bernardez was close to leaving the game, the Honduran international having injured his right leg late in the match. With San Jose out of substitutions, the defender had little choice but to continue, a decision that almost came back to haunt the Earthquakes when he appeared to aggravate the injury in the 92nd minute.

Two minutes later, Bernardez was the man behind the ball, set for a 15-yard run up on what looked like it would be more of a prayer than a shot. But thanks to a hop from Gonzalez and a slow reaction from Saunders, Bernardez snagged San Jose?s match winner.

Threesome of knowledge: What we learned

Sometimes they feel like first legs.

Friday (Seattle-Real Salt Lake) and Sunday afternoon (Houston-Sporting Kansas City) debunked the notion that the first game of a two-legged series has to be a conservative affair. Unfortunately, tonight?s game gave us more of what we saw between D.C. United and New York - two teams taking a wait-and-see approach over the first half of a 180-minute game.

Over the first 45 minutes, with the teams combined for one shot on goal. Most of the game was played in the middle third between two sides more concerned with avoiding big mistakes than making something happen. The league?s two best attacks were waiting for the other guy to mess up.

When the second half started, it was more of the same, though at the hour mark, LA started pushing for a goal. In the 65th minute, Jon Busch was called on to make his first save of the match, with Keane nearly stealing a lead for the Galaxy in the 86th.

For San Jose, a conservative approach made sense. They were on the road against the defending champions. If somebody offered them a 0-0 before the game, they would have snatched it, said thank you, and spent three hours at the beach before their flight home.

LA?s tactics were a little more confusing, though when you think back on the team?s last week of action, you see why Bruce Arena?s team looked so flat.

LA was either out of gas, conserving energy, or just off.

Arena played a full team last Sunday in their meaningless season finale against Seattle. On Thursday, he team spent near-70 minutes chasing the game against Vancouver, who took a shock third minute lead in the teams? knockout round match. Even though they were all at home, Los Angeles was playing their third game in eight ways, not an ideal schedule for a team built around David Beckham, Landon Donovan, and Robbie Keane.

So if Los Angeles wanted to slow down Sunday?s game and try to steal it late, you couldn?t blame them. If Keane?s late blast was two or three inches lower, the plan would have worked. Bruce Arena would have been hailed as a magician.

But for whatever reason ? fatigue, tactics, or just a flat performance ? LA did not look themselves tonight, and when they take the field at Buck Shaw on Wednesday, the Galaxy?s aging core will be playing their fourth game in 11 days.

San Jose did it again, but don?t read too much into it.

The Earthquakes are up to 23 goals after the 75th minute. Chivas USA only scored 24 goals all season. As much as we?ve marveled at it throughout the year, San Jose?s late-match exploits remain an amazing (and probably under-appreciated) part of their success.

Tonight, however, they were outplayed over the last quarter hour. Los Angeles looked far more likely to score, and although you can explain the end result as San Jose?s ability to win against all odds, Bernardez?s goal was less their doing than the result of three Galaxy mistakes (Sarvas?s foul, Gonzalez?s hop, Saunders? whiff).

San Jose?s results long ago established their end-game bonafides, and with their depth and tactics, you can see why they score so many late goals. Sunday, however, was less about never say die than being the beneficiaries of a gift from their opponents.

Packaged for takeaway:

  • Bruce Arena shuffled his team, starting Marcelo Sarvas, pushing David Beckham out right, and having Landon Donovan partner Robbie Keane up top. Add the return of right back Sean Franklin and four of LA?s 11 starting positions changed from Thursday night.
  • Beckham?s night was quiet or ineffective, depending on how hard you want to be on him. While he put in a few dangerous crosses, most of his service was lacking, and he was often seen walking back to his defensive position. He failed to connect on any of his 11 crosses and was subbed off in the 78th minute, Bruce Arena?s only change of the match.
  • San Jose elected to go with Ramiro Corrales in midfield, with Simon Dawkins starting on the bench. The Tottenham loanee was listed as probable on the injury report and eventually came on for Mart?n Chavez in the last half hour.
  • Up until his stoppage time gaff, Saunders had quietly put in a strong night, making three or four nice reads to kill attacks before they became dangerous.

Selling Your Products On The Internet - Online Business Ideas and ...

Several types of internet marketing strategies can help make your online business a success. You may need to try a variety of online marketing options to discover what works best for your business. Get started by following some of these basic tips to increase your customer base.

Look for original ways to promote your content. Post your new content on social networks, include it in your newsletter and make sure you combine different kinds of content. For instance, you could use pictures to get your readers' attention when you post an update on social networks. Share links to your different articles on message boards or in comments to blog posts. Keep track of which links get the most attention to find out what is efficient to promote your content.

Always remain professional in your interactions with your customers, even if they get angry or attack you on a personal level. If a customer is too angry with you to be reasoned with, you have to accept that you have lost a customer and move on. Do not send angry messages or adopt a sarcastic tone: this would give your brand a very bad image. Be polite, helpful, professional and ignore messages from customers who do not want to accept your apologies, refunds and coupons. Learn to control your emotions and find a way to release your stress without letting your customers know about your frustrations.

You can improve your campaign thanks to feedback. How do you get people to give you feedback? You can give out free products in exchange for a review on your product or your site, or organize a contest or a drawing where people have to fill out a short survey about your site to enter. Ask for feedback from the people who ordered something or who joined your mailing list: explain that you need this feedback to provide them with the kind of content they want.

Have you ever thought about holding a contest wherein your users will pick your new product slogan or site theme? This is something that can be very exciting for your customers. Holding this type of competition will entice a lot of people to join.

Create profiles or groups on social networks. Ask your customers to answer to surveys to find out which social networks they use and what kind of content they would like to see. You can easily share updates, pictures, videos, polls and games on these sites. Post updates frequently and encourage people to interact with you by commenting on your content. You can get more people to connect with your social networks by sharing limited offers and special discounts on these sites only. Stay up to date with new social media marketing trends and do not hesitate to try new things with these sites.

You must also give people a reason to go back to your site. Give them excellent content, excellent customer service, and a site that they can get around in easily, and most of your job is done. When you give them a reason to come back, they will!

Maybe you are just getting started and don't have a business, yet. There are still a variety of ways to make money online by promoting the products of various affiliate marketing programs. Affiliate marketing programs are abundant, offer many types of products to promote and are easy to join. This method entails setting up a website or blog dedicated to a niche market, generating traffic to the site and promoting the affiliate products with ads or reviews. A niche market is simply an area you are interested in that has related products offered by your affiliate plan.

If you're trying to start up an email marketing campaign, then you have to get your hands on some good software. Let's say you have a network of 150 people. Even if you're sending them all the exact same message, you're going to go crazy by the time you personally compose each mail for each address. With the right software, not only can you enter the entire list and send it at once, but you can also have an auto-respond option that acts instantly.

Internet marketing is a great way to get your name out there and advertise to your target audience. If you want to be successful at Internet marketing try out the tips that are shared in this article.

The small town of Carslon, Maine has always been quite calm and friendly. There isn't much crime, or murder... nothing really abnormal. Until now. No one has paid much attention to the dark but young stranger who has come into town, with his hood covering his face to hide a sinister secret. This stranger, is a legend that people can't be sure exists, but are sure they've seen. But it does. He's a black eyed demon. A supernatural being of evil and fear, possessing a younger and mortal body as he is traveling to start a pact of his own. And he thinks he might have found it.

Eyeing three males that would do nicely, he has brutally started the process of turning their souls black and turning their bodies into shells that they can possess. But with the towns people closing in and his business not done, the rogue must act quickly. In order to continue the pact, he must have more, and he decides to kidnap the three female lovers of these boys and desert the city with a mob of panicked parents and friends behind.

With these boys undergoing sinful thoughts and the urges to kill and eat off humans, they are slowly but surely turning into dark beings of the underworld while committing acts of murder and being taught the ways of the demons by their new leader. As they travel across the American States, the three girls must figure out how to escape, and figure out if they can save their boyfriends. But, they cannot. Will they abandon them to keep their humanity, or stay with them and become sinful beings out of love?

---------------------------------------------

Plot Summary; Basically, it's about a demon who comes to Carlson so start a pact of black eyed demons. He ends up clawing and biting three boys which starts a painful and dark process of turning their souls black, which slowly and surely turns their eyes darker and darker as well. It is a process that cannot be stopped. But, suspicion starts and the rogue must leave, so, he kidnaps three females that are the lovers of the three males and flees. He must wait for the process to complete with the males, and then he can start the process on the females, or else he has too much to handle.

The females are basically hostages as their lovers are killing and becoming more sinful with lust and murder, being taught how to without drawing attention. They have to either escape to save themselves, or stay and become demons to stay with their lovers. That's really... the clearest version I can give you

(AP) ? Vice President Joe Biden is making a pitch for bipartisanship, telling voters in Iowa that it's reassuring to see Democrats and Republicans working together in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy.

Campaigning Thursday in Fort Dodge, Iowa, Biden said Americans always work better when they work together.

The vice president says people need to stop thinking of the country as divided between red states and blue states, adding that, in his words, "We're a purple nation, man."

Biden says he knows and likes many Republicans but doesn't recognize the GOP these days.
